Pushpa Bhargava is a mother of two who came to the US as a young bride with her husband and infant son in 1972. There were no grocery stores for Indian spices or other cooking ingredients for hundreds of miles from her suburban Philadelphia home. So she learned to improvise to provide her children the same wholesome Indian food that she grew up with in India.
Through the years she has seen a whole generation of Indian Americans grow from young children to highly successful professionals with families of their own.
Recognizing the difficulties associated with managing a household, a family, and a career without the support of a traditional Indian extended family residing in the same home, she has put together a collection of recipes and tips to fill that gap. Her self published book From Mom with Love... attempts to provide readers with a substitute to their own mothers standing next to them and lovingly helping them in the kitchen.
Pushpa currently lives with her husband in Nesconset, Long Island, New York. Her two children are successful business executives that work and live in New York City.
