Kaya is the author of the internationally best-selling The Book of Angels: The Hidden Secrets, and the co-founder of a seven-year-old non-profit organization that publishes spiritually-moving works, Universe/City Mikael (UCM) Publishing.
Kaya, 40, was born Francis Martin Lavergne. By the age of 7, he took the stage name Francis Martin. He enjoyed a nearly 20-year career as an entertainer, performing as a child-star in the Rock Opera Starmania, written by France's most popular songwriters and producers at that time. By the age of 10, he recorded his first Gold album.
But, he almost didn't live long enough to experience his successful career. At age 7, he was nearly killed in a bicycle accident. In a coma for two weeks, he miraculously recovered several months later. When he emerged from the coma, he conveyed what he saw and heard; this surprised and deeply concerned his entourage. He remembered everyone who visited him while he was in the coma. He had dreams and speaks aloud during the night, but his parents did not recognize these phenomena.
At age 20, CBS Records Canada, later to become SONY Music, signs Kaya to a long-term recording contract. ATV Music Publishing signs him to a publishing contract. He filmed a music video for his third French Album, Drole de Nuit, and the album features two #1 songs on the charts in French Canada. His video ranks #1 on Musique Plus, French Canada's equivalent of MTV. Kaya's career skyrockets in 1990, when his next album with SONY goes Gold, featuring four #1 songs and #1 videos. He's nominated for Most Promising Male Vocalist at the Juno Awards (similar to the Grammy's) and tours with Celine Dion as her opening act.
By 1994, with more success in his music career, he finds that his relationship with the mother of his infant daughter falls victim to the superficial world of show business, and they separate. With his family in shambles, his life falls apart and he begins a spiritual journey. He walks away from a multi-million-dollar music contract and quits SONY Music, just as he receives a major inheritance from an anonymous fan.
In 1995, he embarks on a journey that continues today, writing a number of spiritual books, while seeking answers to life's dreams, challenges, and callings. For several years, he lives as a hermit while finding himself plagued by as many as 50 nightmares every night. Those closest to him believe he's becoming sick mentally. In 1996 he moves to Cold Springs, NY, to get away from his fame and fortune, and decides to care for a wealthy man with terminal cancer.
A decade ago he wed Christiane, and his life changes greatly. He is devoted to spiritual work with Angels and shares his experiences with her. They'd write books together and have toured dozens of cities in Canada, Europe, and Africa. This fall they are to tour a dozen US cities. They have sold 400,000 books, as well as CD's and greeting cards. Their book, The Book of Angels, The Hidden Secrets, is a best-seller in Canada, France, Switzerland and Germany, and is available in a dozen countries. In September 2008, The Book of Angels is being released in the United States for the first time. He resides in Quebec, Canada. Please consult www.ucm.ca or www.72Angels.com.
