Penelope Przekop is the author of a provocative new novel, Aberrations.
The story takes place in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she grew up. It is a moving story that shares insights on many subjects, including: parenthood, mental illness, accepting others and ourselves, pursuing and confronting the truth, narcolepsy, homosexuality, experimental drugs, adultery, and friendships.
Though a work of fiction, some overlap of Penelope's life and her novel are obvious. Both the story's main character, Angel, and Penelope, have mentally-ill mothers. And both, when 21-year-old college students, had an illegitimate baby.
Penelope has been featured in The New Jersey Star-Ledger, The Shreveport Times, and other publications. She's also conducted numerous seminars and workshops, including recent speaking appearances at The Narcolepsy Network Annual Conference, The Sleep Wake Disorders Association, and The Narcolepsy Network Mid-Year Conference.
Penelope's published writing debut was with a non-fiction book in 2005, with McGraw-Hill (Six Sigma for Business Excellence: A Manager's Guide to Supervising Six Sigma Projects and Teams). It's based on her career as Director of Global Quality and CAPA Management for Johnson & Johnson. She's also an American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Manager.
Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, she held positions of increasing Quality Management-related responsibilities at several major pharmaceutical companies including Hoechst Celanese, Novartis, and Wyeth, and also Covance, a contract research organization. She has held consulting assignments with Pfizer and Rhone Poulenc. Her work in the quality field spans numerous R & D functions such as pre-clinical and clinical research, regulatory affairs, clinical data management, and drug safety surveillance.
She has a BS Degree in Biology from Louisiana State University and an MS Degree in Quality Assurance Systems from Southern Polytechnic State University in Georgia. Penelope also participated in a Ph.D. Program in Pharmacology at Louisiana State University Graduate and Medical School.
Penelope is the married mother of two children and resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
